Film Reviews & Headlines

(star explodes) (metal clangs) (voices echo) (heart pounds) (spears tears into flesh) (pants) (device whirs) – I know you are receiving these messages. Your silence has been
interpreted as defiance. So let me stress again the
importance of this mission. They deserve to be warned. Everyone deserves that chance. It is the will of the Council. We are indebted to your years of service, but if you disobey this order, it all counts for nothing. So, Jo, if you don’t respond this time, we are coming for you. I know you are–
(object crashes) (space craft engine roars) – Re-route the grid,
we can still save them. Quickly! (console beeps) – The grid auto-locked to protect us. Damn this junk. – We’ve lost everyone in beta sleep? – Both chambers. But
they’re the lucky ones. I’d rather die in a dream than
wake up to this nightmare. – Not like any storm I’ve seen before. With no traceable source
I can’t outrun it. What am I missing? – Look, the answer’s not on
that battered old system. This is something more than a solar storm, it’s supernatural. If we want to survive
this we have no choice. We have to use the relic. – You’ll need to bring Kile. I’ll get the guy who bought passage. – And I told you it was bad
omen to let a man on board. – He paid top duty. And we needed it. – And did you get ID? – Pay enough, names don’t matter. – Your silence has been
interpreted as defiance. (voice distorts) (knocks)
– Hello? I must speak with you. – A moment! – You should come to the command center. – I’m not part of your crew. – You’re a Peacemaker. Why did you board our ship? What are you looking
for among lumps of rock? – I don’t have to explain myself to you. I don’t think you would like people asking questions about
your past, would you? – Mining stone taught me
how to really see people. Their first appearance
is plain and crude… But look closer… You can see flecks of beauty. My crew may appear raw to
you, but everyone is precious. If you have any hidden skills, now would be the time to show them. (footsteps approach) – I know a thing or two
about stellar rigs, may I? Judging from the intensity,
I’d say an X-flare. Does your system have a name for the star origin or distance? – Okay, that’s the curious thing. It’s not a wave pattern.
It’s not coming from a star. It’s on all sides simultaneously. – It’s totally unnatural.
– That can’t be right. – How long till our rescue ships arrive? – We lost comms. No one’s coming. – We’re lucky the lights are still on. – Can you get us through this? – What about evac? – Single unit. Damaged. – They don’t give
high-grade ships to ex-cons. No one cares if we die out here. – Why is this happening? – This is something
beyond our understanding Our problem is in here, not out there. – But we’ve done our time. I’ve done mine, nobody
can say I haven’t paid it. – There’s one way to be sure. The relic will reveal any hidden guilt. (console beeps) – This isn’t a storm, it’s a weapon. (clock ticks) – Let this speak for each of us. Primal instinct cannot lie. – What happens if you roll red? – Then you get rid of me. (whimpers) – Well then, the council forbids this form of divination, so… – Everyone rolls… Or they walk, bare skinned. – I will not be a part
of your blood rites. It’s juvenile! (loud crash) (alarm rings) – What curse have you brought here? – You would kill me over
some ancient trinket? – Start talking, “quiet life.” – I do not answer to you. A ship of ex-cons and the
knife points at the Peacemaker? How prophetic.
– Your position doesn’t make you better than any of us. – If you truly believe
I’m the cause of this, throw me off the ship. – You can die in here
with us, or die out there, it makes little difference now. But if you are the target… We might survive. Bring him. (alarm rings) – How can you do this? – He’s right. We’ve all taken
life, we can’t judge him. – And yet judgment is here. – Wait, wait! I’m a good man and I’m
here because of that. I stood by my beliefs,
rejected my last mission. – Peacemakers don’t desert. – There is a dying star that
threatens a life planet. And the council wanted me
to offer them our help. – And you wouldn’t go? – The planet is Ninevah. We help them, and they
will only attack us again. I’m trying to stop future wars. – How long have you
known this wasn’t a storm but the council? When did you know you were responsible? – I’m doing this to save lives, for peace! – Keep telling yourself that. You’ve brought death here. (ship explodes) (Kile screams) – I didn’t do this! – But you can stop it. You can stop it. (escape unit starts up) (lid clangs shut) (exhaust spurts) (display beeps) – Counselor? You won’t get this, but I need to try… I’m in… I don’t know where I am. Counselor? Counselor? You wanted me. You’ve got me right where
you wanted me, so what? What now? You did this. You set me up to fail. I trusted you. And I gave you years of service. Did everything you asked! (screams) How could I forgive you? How could I go to them? Is that why you sent me? Because you knew it would be
hardest thing for me to do? Don’t I deserve a second chance? (sputters) (groans) (coughs) (fire crackles) Wait. I’m sorry, please.

100 thoughts on “Sci-Fi Short Film “Pulsar” presented by DUST

  1. DUST should bring together the best writers, directors, actors, CGI designers etc. to create an own science-fiction series. The world is waiting for it because "Star Trek: Discovery" with annoying characters like Tilly and its crude political agenda is a true disaster.

  2. If you can fast-forward through a short film without missing a beat of it's essence, it's not a great movie. By definition. Sorry. Strong effort, none-the-less.

  3. I and don't forget the magic sheleighly who ever heard of the Irish in space or Scott whoever the heck these people are I

  4. Dust controls the volume, Dust controls the video. Dust controls the Internet, Dust controls everything you can imagine ..and you will watch them all !! <?>

  5. The movie was great as an analogy of Jonah, however, the ending is not so great as the entire message is in the ending in the Bible. People repent and that is the entire purpose of the work God declares for us to do. As His children, we need always rejoice as the angels do for even one sinner that repents so Christ's dying is not in vain for that person.

  6. So they gave him a bubble bath in an escape pod and he found himself in the mountains with a lady in a fancy wedding dress. Nice honeymoon

  7. 2:25 (space craft engine roars)

Let's ignore the spelling of spacecraft for the moment. It roars? In space? How?!? In what medium does the sound waves propagate?

  8. We have footage from a backwards cult. Hey, I have video from a SciFi short. Let's combine them and make a really bad movie!

  9. The quality shines through. Not sure watching the film what it was all about until I read Weary Man's synopsis below. I guess I need to watch more to get used to the short film format.

  10. It's funny how they are always trying to put non-white men with white women. As if (((they))) are trying to get rid of us.

  11. Blasphème blasphème quand tu nous tien… plus d'idée servons nous de la bible… wouee au pire nous dirons que nous vehiculons le MESSAGE biblique… bamm dans ton hug ..les chretiens

  12. Nothing like a good, easy to follow sci-fi story to end your day…just kidding. This is incomprehensible pretentious self indulgence.

  13. I’m really impressed with the quality and storyline. I’ve watch about 15 different shorts and all held up against any sci-fi stuff out to day great job.

  14. I kind of suspected a Jonah theme but them talking about Ninevah really confirmed it. Only thing you're missing is the Ninevites repenting of their sin and being redeemeed. Jonah basically self destructs when he sees the Ninevites weren't destroyed.

  15. Whoa, BABY!… a whole ship full of Irish Bad Gurlz, and it sure looks like they be gettin' LONELY – I'm in! I can be like their houseboy, I don't do toilets or windows but I can fetch 'em their slippers and shit. Late night massages to chase away them ol' Irish blues.

  16. I thought I saw a smiliarity…then when he said the planet was Nineveh i knew my suspicion was correct. Jonah in space

  17. Have just discovered,,,,, if you close your eyes and listen to the sound tract alone….. its exactly like an early 1960s

    Dr Who script…

  18. Always a pleasure seeing some great actors in these awesome shorts. Jessie Buckley from Taboo is great in everything she's in as well as David Gyasi who played Romilly in Interstellar with a perfect American accent.

  19. I had to thumbs down this one because it made no sense to me at all, until I read the comments. And knowing what it means now doesn't make it any better.

  20. yes, it is the story of Jonah. The lottery system for seeing whose fault it is, him trying to escape his duty, being cast overboard. Even that council member as holograph, all parallel, very good.

  21. 1:20 Already f'n crazy!!!
🤯👍🏿 I just came across Dust an hour ago and I'm on my 4th video!

  22. You Tube peeeple…sooo snooty,so picky. Appreciate these…they weren't around in the 90's,…or 70's…. I appreciate these, because I was born in 1957.These Dusts are better than the old outer limits…and some better than the newer outer limits.(But as a little kid,the old outer limits scared the crap outa me,and when the tubes on the tv blew during an episode….holy crap…parents had a good laugh at that,I'm sure.)

  23. They live on a space ship but believe in fairy tales.
A Whale tooth? You stole this story from the bible.
The peacemaker is going to kill an entire planet?
    The end makes ZERO sense

  24. Когда звезда взрывается со звуком – это неправда.

  25. These shorts by Dust, are really well done. Good visuals, good writing, good acting, well produced. Really, quite impressive.

  26. Sorry supernatural nonsense pretending to be Science fiction. Hiding supernatural / bibical story on a space ship doesn't make it Sci-fi. This lowers the bar on the normal high standard of the movies normally shown by this channel.
