100 thoughts on “Sci-Fi Short Film “CC” | A DUST Exclusive Premiere

  1. Wow, what an excellent way to start my day, such an emotional and compelling piece of work, I also wanted to thank you DUST for informing of your new films. Wishing you all the best.

  2. This ai would be out on her ass that fast if she blocked me. It is evident that she is a sanctimonious twit with some defective programing.

  3. Nice sweater on Jewel… 😉
Let's see… AIDCC…. Artificial Intelligence Device Child Care?
A story of extremes. The extremely insecure mother… the extremely literal android… the extremely impressionable child… the extremely bottom-line corporate executive/manager…
Mother keeps her life, but "loses" her child… I think, for a short, it would have been a more powerful ending if the mother had been killed, and the child left in the care of "CC", as a ward of the corporation, as a settlement of the "incident", as "what's 'best' for the now motherless child"…
A full movie could have the opportunity to build more subtly, but this was well done, given the constraints of a short…

  4. The ai nanny gave the daughter the best. She sacrificed herself to give the little girl her mama back. She could have easily killed her but she controlled the thrust.

  5. This particular movie oh, I think should be a gift to those who like to drink…. A little too much. A warning of future tomorrow's from somewhere in the Twilight Zone

  6. "CC" is a skillful blending of tensions, old and new. For example, there is the age-old tension between a child's parent, and that child's caregiver: what happens when the child comes to love their caregiver more than their parent? A more recent–and certainly widely-experienced–tension between a technology user's wants, and what that technology actually provides: what happens when supposedly time-saving technology actually wastes time?

"CC" gracefully explores this landscape, giving us a glimpse of a possible future that's grounded in our present-day experiences. If it went only that far, it would be a thought-provoking film on an interesting subject. But where this film really excels is in the short scene after the credits–here the viewer is forced to confront their own feelings about CC's next assignment. I won't lie: even as an IT guy that understands how easily and completely technology can be redeployed, that closing scene left me feeling just a bit uneasy. And that moment of reflection was well worth the ride.

  7. The best to the Spear sisters, (fine script!) cast, and crew for making this film happen, and to DUST, presenter. Everyone was great, but Jewel Staite was incredible as "CC", the perfect companion. Totally believable! She NAILED IT!!! Her tears as she was shut down got to me, and…that ending! Corporate greed x10! People…you MUST be a credits watcher, or you miss the best things that they sneak in, often, during the credits roll! 💖☠

  8. Nice short. Thanks for uploading.
That CC sure is a Feeler with all the irrationality that comes with it – very human in that sense.

  9. If it wasn't for that juice!! CC woulda been triggered if the mom offered tampico!!! I'd definitely watch this if they made a movie out of it

  10. Well done, ladies! Well produced and acted. Personally, I don't believe the AI will go sideways and turn against humans on their own. Unfortunately they are/will be programmed by humans who too often have an agenda! A hard wired kill switch that the AI has no access to isn't difficult to engineer. But then you would have that pesky human element to contend with again.

  11. Good drama, enjoyed it a lot. When I grew up all we had to worry about was The Bomb. There's still that (as if that isn't enough). A lot of todays sci-fi is so dark. Wouldn't want to be a kid today growing into THEIR future If there is one.

  12. If this were the plan for future life.
HUMANS would be doomed regardless … Children damned with two same sex adults without a mother/father figure.

  13. I like the I Robot type twist to this, congratulations to the spear sisters this was very well done you should be proud hopefully you and d
ust will collaborate on more films, sorry for the typo., consider me a new fan of your work can't wait to see what you come up with next

  14. Only two sisters could be this demented and politically correct…..i know……i have a brother. #BRAVO 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!

  15. Great short. Jewel proves as always that she is a real gem. This short was enchanting and horrifying at the same time and that is a real feat. I've written lots of program code and can tell you there is NO such thing as a program bug or anomaly. Every program ever written is flawless, it does precisely what the programmer programed it to do. It may not do what we intended it to do, but only what we programmed it to do. The flaw is in the programs designers and programmers. The flaw is in us humans. CC nannies are coming to a home near you sooner than you think. We already are allowing software controlled cars on our roads and they are killing people……….. The real question is why no one seems to care?

  16. Replaced by automation. Been happening for 60 plus years. Just because it doesn't have two arms and legs, doesn't mean it can't do your job.

  17. Hey, Drl Keller of Stargate Atlantis.
The nanny would do much better raising the little girl, always giving her the best. Mom's a drunk anyway.

  18. It's not the sting she's afraid of,it's the slime……Jewel Staite is absolutely incredible…I actually hurt for the bot….

  19. Man…I would have dropped a Superman punch on her followed with a back Wheel-kick right to her mouth…it would have been "Boom Boom Out go da light!!"

  20. Wait till part two where the mother's life is a wreck and the childs life will soon follow…nvm we have already seen that episode.

  21. haven't you heard?
motherhood is patriarchal misogyny designed to oppress wahmmynz
the future is responsibility free, the future is feminism..

  22. I clicked on and immediately paused it. I haven't watched the weekly posts. I would rather wait
for the Sunday live show to watch with everyone. It takes me back to Sci-fi Flicks and Buck Rodgers on Friday nights with family and popcorn. From an older fan of Asimov……Thank you Dust!

  23. This is a level two android and some thirty years in the future, if they stay on the right robotic track to produce very advanced robots. Androids come from robots, but there must be advanced robots enough to get that development base.

  25. Pretty good, but it's hard to believe an android as advanced as CC wouldn't have an emergency shutoff switch. Even Data had a shutoff button.

  26. I freakin knew it was Jewel Staite, missed her since Firefly!! Great AI representation, the program exceeds it's boundaries.

  27. And this is why AI Can Not be allowed to be a replacement for or where human contact MUST be!
    Manual labor? Sure.
    Nurses or home caregivers? No
If they are ever put into a forum where they are capable of making choices as to “care” or “protection “?
They’re will be these types of results.
❤️, A Dorothy In Red Mary Janes
    Ps Great short film!
