Film Reviews & Headlines

YOU JUST DIRECTED YOUR FIRST
MOVIE.>>I DID.>>James: A FILM CALLED STIR. YOU ALSO STAR IN THE FILM.>>THAT’S SO HARD.>>I KNOW IT’S REALLY HARD!>>James: IT IS REALLY HARD. IS THIS GOING TO BE A HABIT FOR
YOU, ARE YOU GOING TO KEEP DIRECTING?>>I DON’T KNOW. IF I FIND SOMETHING ELSE I
WOULD. THIS WAS A REALLY UNUSUAL STORY. WRITTEN BY STEPHEN MAZER. IT TOUCHED ON SUICIDE. IT’S A DEPRESSED DENTIST WHO
THINKS HE HAS NOTHING TO LIVE FOR, MEETS ANOTHER GUY WHO HAS
EVERYTHING TO LIVE FOR AND WHO TAKES HIS OWN LIFE. IT BECOMES A MYSTERY WHY HE DOES
THAT. HE INADVERTENTLY BECOMES A GREEK
PLUMBER TO SOLVE THAT MYSTERY.>>James: IN THE ORIGINAL
SCRIPT HE WAS SCOTTISH.>>I CAN’T DO A SCOTTISH ACCENT. THAT’S ONE OF THE ADVANTAGES OF
BEING A DIRECTOR. I STUDIED IN GREECE FOR YEARS,
SO I COULD DO THAT. I COULDN’T GET NEAR SCOTTISH.>>James: CAN WE GET SOME
EXAMPLE? [ TALKING IN A GREEK ACCENT ]
>>YOU HAVE TO ADD SOME GREEK WORDS IN THE MIDDLE. YOU PROBABLY DO A GREAT SCOTTISH
ACCENT.>>James: THE ONLY THING I
CAN SAY IN SCOTTISH IS I USED TO WORK IN A SCOTTISH SUPERMARKET. MY BOSS WAS SCOTTISH. ALL HE WOULD SAY TO ME, HE WOULD
SAIT GET UT YOUR FAT BUTTOCKS. HE WAS A LOVELY GUY.>>PRETTY GOOD. IT’S A TRICKY ONE.>>James: NOT EASY.>>WHAT ACCENTS TO YOU USE?>>LIKE A GOOD MID WESTERN, I
GET MAD AT MATT SOMETIMES. I LIKE TO KEEP IT HERE RIGHT IN
MY NOSE.

  1. I'm Scottish and when I go home, can't understand a word folk say, so got to wait for cues on whether to be laughing or crying, but flip knows what at. So best you have a watered down accent Greg. 😊💙

  2. *LOOOVE GREG KINNEAR! HE IS SUCH AN UNDERRATED ACTOR. AND CHOOSES SUCH FASCINATING & IMPORTANT ROLES. PLUS HE'S HANDSOME, HIGHLY INTELLIGENT & HAS A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOUR. ABSOLUTELY ADORE JAMES CORDEN. HE SHOULD BE PRESIDENT.*
