  1. To everyone asking whether I calculated the rats repopulating, I did and just cut it before the final draft because it got too pedantic and lost in it's own numbers. Also, we wind back up at 50 rats anyway. Here's what got cut in case you were curious:

"That means that at the beginning of five years, we're dealing with 50-ish rats in Scott Lang's area, which would replenish to their population carrying capacity in the course of just a few generations. Given that rat food supplies might be lower now that there are only half the people on the world, let's assume that they don’t get back to the full 100 rat population in Scott's immediate area, but that they make a good 50% surge back up to 75 rats roving all over Scott. Realistically it's almost impossible to know for our specific area exactly how many rats would be here, but we're making our best assumption right now and I'm trying to at least give Scott a fighting chance.

So over the course of the six months after the Great Snap, rats would have pretty much bounced back, given that a new generation of rat babies is ready to go every six weeks. To get our final number, we’ll assume that an average-sized rat community would have at most around 50 rats out searching for food at any given time, since about a third of them are statistically in the nest at a given time."

  2. 0:18 I have watched your content for hours on end…most times I have rewatched your videos…over and over again

  3. Movie topics to choose from: Time travel, possibility for Thanos to win, how to avoid the RESNAPPING, etc.

    MatPat: RATS

  4. Spiderman tells iron man when he woke up dr strange told him its been 5 years so dr strange knew that in the 1 successful chance to save everyone they would have had to come back in 5 years no more or less to even have a chance to still make it to the 1 right outcome…so does that mean if the rat didnt hit the button when it did they would have lost?

  5. The fact that there was still energy to activate it is debatable but ii'm sure there was an activation method, log in, password, access card etc for a decice that can access a relm

  6. That moment you realize the rat contributes more to the plot than captain marvel
Edit: Oh wait I forgot she brought Tony back to earth

  7. Probably been said already but the building you circled at 6:55 was the salesforce tower not the transamerica pyramid

  8. I watch 6 hour of game theory one time it cool but i love this channel it the only one that every time i get notifications i come as fast as i can

  9. Did you take into account the birth rate of rats, the lowering of natural predators, and the increase in food over the 5 year span?

  10. Dr Strange saw it. Letting Tony live some how in chaos theory got the rat on the button, and by extension tony living till the end caused that ending which was a /gg.

Example: What if because tony lived, another being had to take it's place. The absence of that being lets another being be in close proximity to the rat when otherwise wouldn't, spooks the rat so it flees and winds up in that garage ontop of that button when it otherwise wouldn't have.

  11. "Riches beyond compare," flips him a penny. For some reason this caught me so off guard that it was genuinely hilarious. Well done.

  12. And just to make antman’s odds higher, it’s also likely that not all the possibilities doctor strange saw happened after five years. Some could have been ten or fifteen years after – perhaps decades would pass in some possible futures until antman would be rescued by a freak occurrence.

  13. i just imagined matt leaving the theater angry as fuck, tears streaming down his face with rage because a rat stood on a button

  14. Disney makes movie

    Mat Pat: I am inevitable

    Disney: wait wha-

Mat pat: oh these conspiracy’s, I’m gonna end this movies whole career

  15. Your math is wrong. Yeah, 50% of rats died in snap, but rats are very, very fast reproduce. So i'm pritty sure that in 6months after snap the colony is again 100 rats. MORE if there is low human population becose rats gets colony bigger if they have food. And becose there is no human to eat from 50% houses, and 50% more problems with rat-killer-squads, so… Yeah, after snap world should be like a apocalyse with rats/ bugs/ everythink that is spreed fast and no need much to live in envirement.

  16. You might have overlooked something crucial. Rats are better in multiplying than humans and don't need 18 years to become adult, so just after The Snap there will be 50% of exterminators and 50% of rats, but during these 5 years there will be explosion of rats and (probably) less exterminators (and garbage collectors) than the initial 50%. Plus rats eat everything, not only garbage left by humans. Life stock and plants also grow faster than humans.

  17. Omg omg omg, i have a new theory! Imagine that: 50% of population of everythink is gone after snap. Some populations grow very fast after that, like moscito, rats, most bugs… and now, 5 y in future, EVERY creature that was snaped return ALIFE. That means like milions of bugs and rats back instant. In marvel world at this point most pple after snap are homless, with no work, with no help from country (i mean poor one, not Canada ;P ) So… Thake this as theory: How much marvel world after SNAP is suck?

  18. But wouldn't the rat have to step on the buttons in some particular order? And what if a rat damages the machine instead of freeing Scott?

  19. But the rat didn’t step on the button while the van was parked on the roof, it steps on the button while the van is in the storage unit, does that not mean you should be looking at the rat populations in the area around and in that building area rather than the car park roof?

  20. But hopes mom would have gotten out of the quantum realm way earlier if all she had to do is tap a button?!?🤨

  21. Did you seriously just calculate that like the amount of rats would stay the exact same after 50% of humans are gone in a big city… Dude… The rat population would explode. They reproduce insanely. SMH.

  22. When me and my brother were in the theatre watching this movie and the rat scene happened I leaned over and said "Thanos: I will wipe half of the universe. Some random rat: Im gonna ruin this whole mans career."

  23. 5 years and 50 rats, those 50 rats for 5 years they must've procreate lol, I mean half humanity gone, noone to stop them from nesting in empty buildings full with food and other stuffs. Add that to your theory and the % will get higher xD.

  24. So after the snap, the van and all equipment were somehow stored away undamaged? Remember they had a whole setup with gear and electronics. And I'd imagine it would take a lot of expertise to put it way undamaged.
Also, instead of having a rat, they should of just had San Francisco have an earthquake that jarred the machine on.

  25. Off topic, did anyone else notice how, in the ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ credits, Clint’s youngest son is named Nathanael Pietro Barton? Like, as in, Pietro Maximoff? I thought that was a cute little detail.

  26. the thing that i think this theory is missing out on is that the rats would boom because of the reduced population and slower repopulation rates of natural predators and humans, there'd be a ton of waste materials and so on and so forth for them to work with, so i think the chance of a rat hitting that button is justifiably high

  27. At the end there you're forgetting Bruce Banner is a scientist and now that he's with the Hulk he's never not a scientist and Peter Parker is a pretty good genius himself

  28. Sorry but invalid assumptions.. in 7 years a rat will atleast go out of its nest and come back so it does repeat the the area it covers twice per day.. this is the worst case scenario. But lets assume and give the benefit of the doubt to the rat. Atleast 2 trips in a day.. which means 5110 times the rat covers the same area(however small) in 7 years.. and that is the least. Obviously the real figure would be around like 51100times.. assuming the rat makes the trips 5 times a day. Now the first assumption of matt pad was wrong that the rat doesnt cover the area twice.. we can't assume that!!! That's. Nonsense.. there is not a 54% chance in 7 years for that button to be pushed… It would take like a millenium.. and lets talk about 50 rats.. those 50 rats will also cover the most of the area as the first rat.. because the area they cover will be overlapped.. but this still means that it would take atleast 100 to 200 years for a rat to push the button.. but obviously rats reproduce… So their. Numbers will increase and then will become constant at one time and it would take 80 to 150 years to cover the whole area inch by inch.. we are giving all benefit of doubts to the rats.. we are assuming that the button is on the ground… For worst case scenarios the button is as possible from the rats.. also the rats dont have to climb on the van to push the button.. we assume that .. but if we take that into account.. it would get even worse… And if we take all the assumptions into account.. also the rat climbing.. the answer would be: we get only a few scenarios im which the rat steps on the button in 5 years.. only a few scenarios out of 14 million.. i am lazy.. do the maths yourself.. and it is common sense thats its impossible for a rat to step on a button like this in 5 years with a 99% chance!!! Its almost certain!!! Thats stupid.. please work on your assumptions matt pad.. and my figures might be wrong and are wrong.. but intuitively.. we can work it like this.. and yes doctor strange didn't saw the same story about rats in his 14 millions scenarios.. there are a lot of scenarios in which this doesnt happen and they fight thanos in a different way which leads to failire- butterfly effect…

  29. “9.99% of those possibilities are to get a rat to step on a f****’n button” hilarious – me Luv it – me. Genius – me Best. – me

  30. A rat infestation you say? Perhap ladies should put those high heels to good use and start impaling rats like Thor's Axe through Thanos's chest.

  31. I would like to think that the odds of someone's curiosity leading them to touch the panel is much higher than that of a rat walking across it.

  32. when i watched this i look like it was all fake but some just some of me said it is real then im like imma just do a skela-ton on thing to do ba dum tsssssssssssssss

  33. The rat was compelled to go to the button
It could hear the distant but near scriptwriters
He could feels it inside him
    It was his destiny

he was also trying to get revenge for his killed rat uncle and save half the rat universe
